Primary 5 Homework for Thursday, 3rd of February

Dear Primary 5 families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

This week the spelling patterns are: ea. There are 4 spelling tasks on the page, please choose one to complete in the homework jotter.

Ivory Group: There are 10 spelling words to practise, however if your child already knows several, they can choose to practise the three challenge words in place of 3 they already know.

Blue Group: There are 10 spelling words to practise and 3 Common Words. These will change each week.

Numeracy: Our numeracy topic is fractions. The blue group are recognising fractions and writing them correctly. The Ivory group are using visuals to recognise and write equivalent fractions.

Health and Well-Being: This term, we are focusing on Keep Connected. In the homework folder is the Home Activity. Please note this can be done over 2 weeks and is due on Thursday, 10th of February.

If anything is not clear or there are any concerns, please do let me know.

I hope you all have a lovely week.

Kind regards,

Mrs Harrison

Home Learning…

I am so sorry to hear some of our pupils are needing to isolate at home over coming days and I’d like to reassure parents that we will do everything we can to make sure that they are supported to catch up and do not miss any important learning.

I have updated each child’s education city account with a series of activities, games and worksheets in Sequencing Numbers, as this will be our focus in class next week.

Education City can be found here. If you have any problems getting logged on please let us know.

As next week is languages week it would also be really beneficial for pupils to spend this time learning a new language! Maybe do some learning in your home language or search online for translations of key vocabulary in a new language that interests you. It would be wonderful if pupils can tell us their name, their age and how they are feeling in a different language!!

Or try translating this Spanish video!

I hope this helps to keep some of our boys and girls busy. I will add more tasks during the week. Please do remember these tasks are optional and should only be completed if children and adults are well enough to do so. Please keep safe and we look forward to seeing you feeling better very soon! Mrs Peoples 😊

A Very Special Friday!

We had a lovely day in Primary 4 today to celebrate the end of Scottish week.

Carla, one of the P7 house captains, visited to share some more Scots language with us after seeing our wonderful Scots language display in the school corridor outside our classroom.

Thank You for sharing your learning with us Carla!
Our favourite Scots words made into POP ART 🎨

We then listened to a rendition of Robert Burns’ “Address to the Haggis” and enjoyed our very own Burns Supper. Everyone tried some of it and there were lots of empty plates which was wonderful to see!

Primary 2 Week in Review – 28th January

In maths we continue to focus on reading the time using words on an analogue clock to the hour and half past the hour. Across this week we have been working on our calendars of this year in class which has linked with our Spanish work where we have been looking at the months of the year.

In our literacy, we worked on the ‘air‘ and ‘ir‘ sounds patterns this week. Linked here and here are some games to practise the ‘air‘ pattern and here and here are some games to practise the ‘ir‘ pattern if you wish! We also had a look at some Scots words this week as we thought about Burns Night and had a go at a version of ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes‘ in Scots!

We continue to look at fairy tales in Wordsmith and you can find a copy of Mary and the Twelve Months to read online in your ActiveLearn accounts. We had a think about the character of each month and the sort of colours we could use to show this based on the events and plants or fruits that might grow at their time.

In our Space work we start to look at Earth, why it is considered the ‘Goldilocks‘ planet and continue to work on our art of the solar system. We explored using marble inks in our art this week and are waiting on these to dry to use them in our art.

And last but not least…

A big well done and congratulations to our

Rayan

for being a Confident Individual in being resilient, trying to make sensible choices and for his efforts to solve problems.

Remember to have fun this weekend and we look forward to sharing some of our Languages Week work with you next time!
