Hello Primary 4,
Our spelling pattern this week is adding -ing to words that end in e.
If a word ends in ‘e’, you drop the ‘e’ and add -ing. For example name becomes naming, care becomes caring, stare becomes staring.
Use this rhyme to help you remember:
‘Take off the e, add i-n-g.’
Your spelling words this week are:
baking, biting, hiding, taking, facing, hoping, lining, shining, naming, sharing, liking, framing, filing, firing, rising, raking, flaming, blaming, aging, caring, hating, staring, dating, wiping, hiking, diving, biking, smiling, dining, driving
Choose 2 activities from the grid to practise.

As this Thursday is Burns Night, I would like you to find out about some famous Scottish people.
You can:
Find out 5 facts about Robert Burns and why we celebrate Burns Night in January.
OR
Find out 5 facts about another famous Scottish person.
Please write your facts down in your homework jotter.
Your maths homework this week is to show off your symmetry knowledge, by playing this game on blooket:

https://play.blooket.com/play?hwId=65ae77cc330b8a0e7039e0a6
You could also practise your times tables with this game:
https://ictgames.com/mobilePage/pop_n_drop/index.html

We have recently been looking at patterns in the times tables, noticing how the answers in the 4 times tables are double the answers in the 2 times tables, and the 8 times tables are double the answers in the 4 times tables. It would be beneficial to practise the 2x, 4x and 8x tables this week.
I hope you enjoy playing the games, and I’m looking forward to seeing your spelling homework and facts about Famous Scots in your jotters on Thursdays!
Mrs Rush
