Primary 4 have started to make their contributions to one of the pieces for the 2022 Art Gallery. The theme this year is ‘Our Diverse Community’ and we are going to make these into some representations of the special buildings in our city – keep your eyes peeled for more very soon!!
Primary 4 spent their Friday with Miss Kirkup exploring the Royal Mile… we looked carefully for spires, arched doorways, gargoyles, stained glass, clocks, weather vanes and some of the other features of the many special buildings our city has!!!
This week Primary 4 are learning about “split e”. Adults may know this spelling rule as “magic e” or “silent e”. Split e is when the letter “e” sits at the end of the word, it is usually silent and the split e tells the first vowel or the preceding vowel to say its name or long sound. The split e vowels are as follows: a_e, i_e, o_e and u_e. This week we are focusing on identifying, reading and writing a_e words and have enjoyed reading nonsense alien words to help us learn to read these confidently.
For homework this week please watch these videos and practice reading and writing words with the a_e spellings.

To celebrate Racial Equalities Week 2022 Primary 4 have recorded The Same But Different Too by Karl Newson and Kate Hindley (with kind permission from Nosy Crow Publishing) to share this wonderful story with all classes while we cannot have assemblies and shared learning events. We hope you like it!!
As part of racial equalities week, Primary 4 are exploring diversity and looking at just how different we all are. We enjoyed finding out about lots of things we have in common and lots of ways in which we are different… keep an eye out for more of our completed work – coming soon!
