What objects do you share equally into 2 groups? One shoe on this foot, one shoe on this one… One glove on this hand, one glove on this one… There is 3 people having dinner so we need 3 knives and 3 forks, 3 and 3 makes 6….
It’s been a great start back to school. Everyone seems recharged and there is lots of enthusiasm for learning
Homework
Colin is now with us Tuesday-Friday until lunch time. Supporting Primary 2 during playtime and lunch time is Mrs D and Mrs B.
Pupils spend 1:1 time with Miss Copeland each week, looking at their reading books and homework jotter. To support this, we are trialling spreading 1:1 time across the week. We would be grateful if you could check the timetable below and return your child’s homework folder on this day.
Show and Tell
Pupils have voted to introduce Show and Tell. On their selected day, pupils will be asked to present their topic to the class. Below is the timetable.
Topics could include but are not limited to; rainbows/scouts, famous footballers, dinosaurs, periods of history, historic events, countries, sports medals, famous person, family member’s life events, religions/festivals, origami – anything that they are really interested in and could talk about for more than 2 minutes and up to 5 minutes. They could show a poster with pictures they could talk through, bring in objects to show or read a book/comic book that they have made themselves. We are looking for lots of facts, how to do something or stories. We very much do not want pupils to bring in toys. We would like pupils to share something that they are interested in and share that information/learning with their peers. Adult support at home will be necessary however we would like pictures and writing to be the pupils own work. Pupils are also allowed to create a video/movie at home which can then be shared as part of their show and tell e.g. videos of the pupil skateboarding, performing ballet or playing shinty.
We hope this will give pupils a voice and opportunity to share something they feel very passionate about! Any questions, please ask!
Maths – Symmetry
Last week we revised the learning from before the holidays.
In Religious and Moral Education (RME), Primary 2 learn about Christianity as well as our focus world religion which is Judaism. We then relate our learning to our own beliefs.
Judaism
When learning about the Jewish story of Hanukkah and the importance of the Menorah and Hanukkiah, Primary 2 suggested that they act out the story. Below is one single lesson, where the pupils created their own props and enthusiastically retold the story from the video.
After the success of their Hanukkah story and inspired after watching the Primary 1’s performance of The Sleepy Shepherd, P2 asked if they could act out the Christian story of the Nativity. Below is, again, a single lesson (!) where we allocated parts, borrowed some costumes from primary 1 and retold the story.
Wow! It has been brilliant seeing all of the work you have been completing on LiveWorksheet so far! If you wish to share your work directly with Miss Copeland today, please enter the code vx3TjUFeka on the website.
Rainbow is missing you all but has been busy while you’ve been away…
Below is today’s home learning. What are you looking forward to tomorrow? Is it doing P.E? Seeing your friends? Maybe you’re excited to share what you’ve been doing at home? Comment below!
