Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023

Hello everyone,

What a fantastic fortnight of keeping active and trying hard to come to school by walking, scooting or cycling!

All our journeys have been submitted and the results are:

Regional position for small schools in Scotland, we ranked 21st!

Out of all the Edinburgh schools that entered, we came 2nd!

Overall position for all small schools in the UK, with 700+ schools entering, we ranked 83rd!

That is a great achievement and well done to all the learners plus parents and carers for supporting this initiative.

Continue to keep active and hope everyone has a fun filled Spring break!

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel!

Starting from Monday 20th until Friday 31st, Royal Mile Primary School will be participating in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel competition. This is a UK wide initiative to help all of us keep active and fit by walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school so that we reduce car journeys, improve air quality and help the environment. Research shows that the more active we are, the more alert and energised we will be – ready for our learning.

We hope all the children can work together to help the school win some fantastic prizes. Thank you in advance to all the parents who will be supporting us.

More information can be found on the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel website where you can also see a full list of the prizes.

Let’s all get ready for some active journeys to school next week!

Another great week!

Hello everyone,

I am so proud of my class! They have been super stars this week (again!).

We have had a week full of science activities and experiments, exploring and predicting what will happen in different situations and how certain things are connected.

Experimenting to see what is the connection between items that float and those that sink. We were surprised about some things we predicted to sink actually floated!

We were reminded why it is so important to wash our hands thoroughly with soap and water!

On Wednesday, we were invited to visit the Scottish Poetry Library which is less than 5 minutes away from school. The children had a lovely time listening to different poems and looking at the books. If any parents are interested, you can always take your child there to make a free membership card and they can take out new books at their leisure.

We ended the week with our fantastic P3 showcase assembly! The class did so well to tell the whole school about our learning so far and Leon was a shining star, leading everyone in the whole school singing!

Well done Primary 3! Keep up the good work!

We are all stars!

What a fabulous week we have had!

The children have all worked hard on comparing numbers using the greater than, less than and equals sign.

We had our Royal Mile’s got Talent showcase on Friday and every class showed off some talents to the whole school. Primary 3 entered as The Awesome Stars singing “You are a Star” and each and every member sang their hearts out! Well done to them! Even though we didn’t win, they all showed great sportsmanship by cheering on the winners and it’s the taking part that counts…in my eyes, P3s were the stars and winners! ;p

We look forward to lots of Science week activities this coming week!

Have a nice weekned.

Great to be back!

Hello parents and carers,

Hope you all enjoyed the February week off.

The children have returned ready to learn and within this first week, I have observed lots of them supporting and helping each other, which is so good to see. They are all becoming successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors 🙂

I always try to make our learning fun so that the children enjoy what they are doing. This week, we tried spelling our tricky words with other resources. Spelling doesn’t always have to be written …Have a look at what we have been up to…

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and I know next week will be a little different with the two days of industrial action. But I have full confidence in Primary 3 and they will be putting all their efforts in to work and learn well on the days they are in school 🙂
