News from last week!

I hope that you all had a great October Week and although the week was very short we packed a lot into P5. We have been playing team games in PE to develop our skills at communication, listening. following instructions and working together. We wrote recounts of events in our holidays and started our Ancient Egypt topic.

On Friday, Adele from the Social Enterprise Academy came to help us start our Social Enterprise project that we will be running over the whole year. In the workshop we were able to come up with a Social Enterprise project that will support our local community and pupils in the school. The project will be run as a business and the class will all set this up over the next few months. We will be back in touch about it when we have worked on our initial plans and a name for our Social Enterprise. Our project also help us support our sustainable goals in particular – clean water, poverty and keeping our environment clean.

Finally a reminder that the class will be going to the Museum of Scotland to attend the launch of My Amazing Brain. We will leave in the morning and be back for lunch.

P5 have had a great week and are looking forward to a well earned holiday. This week we had Maths week and lots of activities indoors and outdoors had been organised to have fun while learning. Our Social Enterprise Academy workshop had to be cancelled on Tuesday due to the facilitator being unwell but it has been rearranged for our return on Friday 28th October.

I would like to wish you all a good October break and will see you all back in school on Wednesday 26th October. I will not be issuing homework this week but reading homework will resume on Monday 31st October. Please bring your library book to school on that day with any homework. Read for pleasure over the holidays and have a relaxing time ready for the busy run up to Christmas.

Happy holidays! Regards Mrs Leslie

Homework w/b 10.10.22

We will be going to the library today so please remember books to either return and change or continue to read. It is great to discuss homework and the books that the class have undertaken at this time. Last week two choices for homework were sent home and this week the class will be able to complete their homework by using the choice they did not use last week. I have reattached the homework sheet and will send out a new copy in school bags today.

P5 News 20.09.22

Great week in P5. We went to the Talbort Rice Gallery for a workshop on the exhibition by contemporary artist Celine Conderelli entitled After Work. The children used their senses to experience the art, looking at the displays and listening to the sounds.

In maths we started Direction and Co-ordinates this week by looking at compasses and the language of direction. P5 will be covering this area of maths for the next four weeks and it will be linked to the outdoor work that they were undertaking with Preston Street School.

Just to remind you that Reading homework will be due in school on Monday and books can be exchanged for a different one in the library or can be sent home to continue the reading. I hope that you have enjoyed sharing reading with your child. I will send out a copy of the next reading activity on Monday when we have discussed this week’s homework in class.
