Welcome Back to the new year and we are already one week into Term 3 2026. I hope that you all had a restful holiday and exciting time spent with family and friends. Last week I had given home learning in spelling revision of common words, a book to read for pleasure and the Rainbow Maths Strategies sheet with counting forward and backwards thank you returning this.
This week, Home Learning will be spelling and we will be using the spelling words with the sound and pattern oi. Please complete a spelling challenge or try creating your own using the words provided. We are focusing on the poetry and songs of Robert Burns in class for the next few weeks as it is part of our topic work on Scottish Inventors and a Scottish Writer. I have enclosed an Other Curriculum challenge grid that you can work through until February Week that looks at Inventors, we will be learning about and Robert Burns. Last week was very short and reading books will not be sent home, so a book for pleasure has been placed in the Home Learning bags from the class library. We have also started to borrow books from the school library these may come home to share over the term.
Maths – please continue to use the Rainbow Mental Maths challenge sheets provided. In class we are looking at division and using our timetables to support our understanding. We will also be building our confidence in estimation and rounding numbers in the range 0-1000. I have enclosed in the bags another copy of the Sumdog passwords for anyone who has misplaced it. Please use Sumdog as an additional homework practice particularly to support your timetables
Home Learning bags will be issued on Monday and should be returned on Friday. I have also attached the Home Learning letter as a reminder of what you may have as home learning over the week in your bag. Please remember that Wednesday and Thursday are PE days and a change of clothes and if needed shoes for PE can be left in school for those days. Please remember to wear your warm coat to school and a hat and gloves for outdoors would be beneficial. Thank you.
