We are moving towards a becoming cashless society. More pupils in Primary 1 have seen their grown ups use a mobile phone to pay compared to using coins!

- Identify all coins to £2.
- Apply addition and subtraction skills and use 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins to pay the exact value for items to 10p.

To start our topic, we opened with 3 questions
We have been sorting and matching coins
- By colour – Gold, Silver, Bronze
- By shape – Circle, Heptagon, Dodecagon
- By size – Smallest to biggest
- By value – lowest value to highest value
To understand that each coin has a different worth, we have been playing with dot cards – combining cards with different dot amounts to pay for an item.
