Primary 5 Home Learning Week Commencing 10/6/24

Spelling

This week in spelling we are focusing on words which follow the double the final letter and add ed spelling rule. For example if we use ship as the root word you would add another p and ed to turn it into shipped.

Please write the root word and then the form with the ‘ed’ suffix added.

Practise writing the words using look, say, cover, write, check. Tick the ones you got correct and have another go at the ones you did not get correct.

Core words

chatted, clapped, fitted, patted, popped, rubbed

Mild words

skipped, pinned, slipped, slapped

Hot words

trapped, tripped, wrapped, permitted

Maths and Numeracy

In maths and numeracy we are continuing our work on measure, focusing on measures of length or distance, weight or capacity. For home learning this week I would like you to write down as many different units of measurement you can remember for distance/length, capacity and weight. You could challenge yourself to also include the abbreviations for the units and sort between imperial and metric.

i.e.

Capacity

litres (l)- metric

pints (pt)- imperial

Challenge task

Choose five of your measurements and write the conversation between metric and imperial.

i.e.

1 pint= 568ml.

Learning Across the Curriculum

In class we have been learning about Islam and creating information presentations to share what we have found.

Please choose another world religion and write five facts you have found about it. You could use the examples below as a starting point.

How many people in the world are followers of the religion?

What are the key beliefs?

What traditions do followers of the religion have?
